Polishing My Vintage French Storage Jars

Sunday I decided to give a good clean and polish to the Aluminum storage canisters I found at one of the summer ‘vide greniers’ (flea markets) I love to frequent around here in south west France.

Danish Decor Neutral Style

20130918-215133.jpg

I’m continuing my quest for neutral cool decor and came across this lovely Scandinavian home – not surprising, all homes from that part of the world seem totally beautiful!

These photos are from the home of Danish designer Michala Wiesneck have to admit that I had to look her up – well, I’m no ‘fashionista’ but must say, I like her style and love her fashion photo shoots – more like fine art than magazine glamour.

Well, I think at 61 years old these clothes are a bit too young for me – BUT – I am proud to say that I could still get into them as after the weight I have lost this year – now back to the same weight as when I was 25 years old!

Anyway – I digress. What I love about the fashion shoot above is the back drops. They could adorn the walls of any living room – LOVELY!

Well back to Michala’s House tour:

Keep an eye out at your local Flee Markets, and you will find stuff like this above.

I just love these NEUTRALS – white – black – grey – brown. So calming and you can still add a splash of color as in the painting.

Country Chic Australian Style

If I ever get the chance to go to Australia , then I am going to this country retreat near Melbourne. It just looks so amazing – be inspired!

EST Magazine

ORCHARD KEEPERS | COUNTRY CHIC
SEPTEMBER 13, 2013 EST MAGAZINE
When Pos Sampieri sent us the images of her beautiful new labour of love, Orchard Keepers, in Victoria’s Red Hill, our heart skipped a beat. Within minutes we were scanning our diaries furiously to find a date that we could book an escape to this idyllic country retreat an hour out of Melbourne. We had to get in quick before we shared it with you (so sorry – but we couldn’t help ourselves) as we know you’re going to love it as much as we do.

Set within established gardens and overlooking surrounding vineyards and orchards, the 4 bedroom guesthouse and separate Workers Cottage sit beneath a giant Sequoia tree. After leaving the corporate world behind her, Pos set herself the task of restoring what was once 3 separate cottages that hark back sometime between the 1890′s and the 1950′s, and committed herself whole heartedly to the entire process.

Working closely with Sue Carroll from Montreaux & Trove in Melbourne, Pos has created a sophisticated and elegant country retreat that she quite rightly refers to as ‘country chic’. Mixing antique pieces with lashings of white paint, layers of linen, concrete surfaces, pale timbers and a collection of ceramics, Orchard Keepers is the definitive of country chic in our opinion.

If your looking for the ultimate country getaway – whether its with family or a group of friends – you can’t go wrong here with Orchard Keepers….but its our little secret right?

Book here quickly if you want to see for yourselves!

Collage Collections and Kurt Schwitter

20130914-211340.jpg

There is nothing like being inspired on a Saturday morning to BE CREATIVE! I saw this lovely collage and started getting itchy fingers to do something similar.

I love old vintage paper ephemera and decided to gather some of my collection together to show you and to remind you not to throw anything away as it could be the crucial piece to finish your own creative collage.

Want more inspiration? Then go and have a look at the artist Kurt Schwitter – the Grand Daddy of collage art.

An old bus ticket, a torn out piece of typography, an old stamp, whatever catches your eye!

OSB Decorated Art Wall

20130909-215109.jpg

I’ve noticed that there is not much inspiration out there as to decorating OSB walls, so I thought I would show you what I have done with one of my OSB walls.

PAINTED of coarse!

20130909-215627.jpg

I used layers of good quality household paint – mat acrylic that dries quickly.

REMEMBER – Layers create depth!

Framing the Painting Painting the Frame

I just had to share this with you.

Yet another original way to work with old ornate frames – let them become one with the art work so that they become the art work – gestalt!
